
Meet The Team

LaMar Davis
LaMar is from Bend, Oregon, and is majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Sustainable Business. He became interested in the Environmental Leadership Program because he cares deeply about restoring our local ecosystems and supporting sustainable agriculture. Outside of school, LaMar enjoys spending time outdoors with friends, trail running, and getting involved in his community.

Andy Lam
Andy is from Jackson, Tennessee, and is majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Economics. He joined the ELP to deepen his understanding of river ecosystems to become a better steward of our resources. Additionally, he hopes to gain hands-on field experience and better project management skills. Outside of class, he enjoys fishing, snowboarding, hiking, playing piano, and playing Counter-Strike with his friends.

Abby Franklin
Abby is from Portland, Oregon, and is majoring in Environmental Studies. She joined ELP because of her passion for environmental stewardship and hands-on ecological restoration. Additionally, she is committed to the restoration of natural habitats, specifically on the McKenzie River watershed. She hopes to gain work experience with project management and community engagement, with the hopes of starting a career in a related field. Outside of class, her hobbies include backpacking, rock climbing, snowboarding, paddleboarding, and anything outdoors.

Alyson Hefferle
Aly is from Denville, New Jersey, and is majoring in Environmental Science with a minor in biology. She was inspired to join ELP because of her deep interest in ecological restoration and growing passion for protecting and supporting local pollinator populations. Additionally, she is motivated by doing work that has a direct impact on the environment we work in. Outside of class, she enjoys camping, birdwatching, and exploring local trails. In addition to being outdoors, she loves spending time with her pets and is a part of the University of Oregon's Bee Friendly Club.

Daniel Wiebe
Daniel is from Eugene, Oregon, and is majoring in Environmental Science. He joined ELP because he wants to deepen his understanding of environmental restoration. Additionally, he wants to gain hands-on experience doing field work. ELP has allowed him to apply all of his classroom knowledge at UO and make a positive impact on our local ecosystem. Outside of class, he enjoys whitewater rafting, rock climbing, biking, and hiking with his dog.

David Mora-Flores
David is from Eugene, Oregon, and is majoring in Environmental Studies. David joined ELP because he wanted to be a better steward for our natural resources and to gain local knowledge of native pollinators and plant species. Additionally, ELP fits into his long-term goals of vegetation management, which is why he joined the Restoration and Research team. When he is not in class, he enjoys fishing, swimming, and restoring and modifying classic cars.

Declan McCarthy
Declan is from Montclair, New Jersey, and is majoring in Environmental Studies. He was inspired to join the ELP because of past students' experiences with the program, and jumped at the opportunity to work on a project that was both fun and fulfilling. When he's not in class, Declan enjoys hiking, biking, river crawling, and all things outdoors.

Gillian Miller
Gillian is from Washington State and is double majoring in Environmental Science and Geography with a minor in Biology. After taking a field botany class, she was inspired to join ELP because of the appreciation she developed for the interconnectedness of ecological systems. Doing restoration work gives her a way to combine her passions for ecological science and investing in the communities she cares about. Outside of class, her hobbies include cycling, cooking, exploring, reading, making new friends, and spending time with her loved ones.​

Tag Vinson
Tag is from Fort Worth, TX, and is majoring in Environmental Science. With his passion for studying the environment outside of the classroom, he was motivated to join the ELP to gain hands-on field experience working alongside like-minded peers who share the same ideas. Outside of class, he enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible with hobbies such as hiking, exploring nature, collecting and cultivating plants, practicing carpentry, and cooking

Kanoa Lanoza
Kanoa is from Lahaina, Hawaii, and is majoring in Environmental Studies. His interest in restoration and sustainability inspired him to join ELP, where he can apply his classroom knowledge in the field to gain hands-on experience and contribute to a project that benefits our local ecosystems. In his free time, he enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, and spending time outdoors.

Xavier Aldredge
Xavier is from Portland, Oregon, and is majoring in Environmental Studies with a minor in Japanese. He decided to join ELP to gain hands-on experience in field work and be outside for the spring term instead of sitting in his room working on his thesis. His hobbies outside of class include cooking, particularly Italian and Japanese cuisines, and playing Magic: the Gathering with his friends.

Douglas Fir
Douglas lives at Whitewater Ranch alongside his parents, Jim and Jane. He spends most of his days grazing on grass and lounging under the shade of trees, blueberry bushes, or Jim’s truck. A friendly face around the ranch, Douglas enjoys the company of the team and often hangs out around the water tap waiting for visits from members of the team.

Peg Boulay
ELP Co-Director
Peg is a wildlife ecologist and the co-director of the Environmental Leadership Program (ELP). She has a broad and applied background in conservation science, including habitat restoration, conservation planning, and environmental monitoring. Peg designs and leads experiential learning courses where students engage in participatory, field-based projects and learn from each other and the broader community. Her work emphasizes the importance of science communication, from interpretive materials to creative expression. With prior experience as a public-sector wildlife biologist and a focus on large carnivores and migratory birds, she brings decades of expertise to her teaching. Peg has received multiple awards for her outstanding instruction, including UO’s Thomas F. Herman Faculty Achievement Award and Sustainability Teaching Award

Carly Hamilton
GE Project Manager
Carly is from Seattle, Washington, and is a graduate student in the Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program (KCGIP) with a focus on bioinformatics and genomics. With a background in statistics and data analysis, her skills apply to a wide range of disciplines, including environmental science. Growing up in Seattle, her passion for conservation motivated her to do volunteer work with the Student Conservation Association (SCA), where she first developed her interest in environmental research. Outside of class, she enjoys arts and crafts, such as crocheting and collage, and playing Mario Kart with her siblings.
